HIV Outcomes President

John Bowis is the President of HIV Outcomes and served as former UK Minister for Health (1992-1996) and Transport (1996-1997) as well as member of the British Parliament (1987-1997). He then became a member of the European Parliament (1999-2009), where he worked on files such as Cross Border Health, Neglected Diseases and Mental Health. An Oxford University graduate, Mr. Bowis has advised institutions such as the World Health Organisation and is board member of GAMIAN Europe, the European Institute of Health, and Maastricht University European Health Faculty, among others.

HIV Outcomes Ambassador

Dr. Vytenis Andriukaitis is the HIV Outcomes Ambassador and the WHO Special Envoy for the European Region. He practiced as cardiac surgeon for 20 years and was a member (and Deputy Speaker) of the Lithuanian Parliament for six terms. He is the co-author of the Independence Act of Lithuania and of the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania. Vytenis Andriukaitis was Minister for Health in Lithuania for two years and then became European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety in 2014 until 2019.

HIV Outcomes Co-Chairs

Mario Cascio has been living with HIV for over 40 years. He is a founding and current board member of NPS Italia APS, the first Italian network of people with HIV, and chairs the Quality of Life Programme at the European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG). Mario is also a founding member of iCOPe HIV, the International Coalition of Older People living with HIV, advocating for the unique needs of ageing and older individuals with HIV.

Prof. Jane Anderson is a clinical researcher in HIV Medicine at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, with a focus on the needs of minoritised and migrant populations. Jane is an Honorary Professor at the Institute of Population Health at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), Deputy Director of the SHARE Research Collaborative Chair of the National AIDS Trust and a past Chair of the British HIV Association.

Caroline Sabin is Professor of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology at University College London (UCL).  She has been closely affiliated with some of the largest cohorts and cohort collaborations in the HIV field such as the UK Collaborative HIV Cohort Study, the D:A:D Study and the Pharmacokinetic Observations in PeoPle over fiftY (POPPY) study in England and Ireland. Beyond her professorship, Caroline directs the NIHR Health Protection Research Unit in Blood-Borne and Sexually Transmitted Infections at UCL and is a Trustee of the British HIV Association. Caroline Sabin has an extensive publication history and serves as co-Editor-in-Chief of HIV Medicine.
